Mari is a Uralic language and was earlier known as Cheremis. Mari was an official language of the Mari Republic, along with Russian. There are two main varieties of Mari – Hill or Western Mari and Meadow or Eastern Mari. Among these two variety, the Eastern variety is widely spoken and it is spoken by about 600,000 people in Russia, mainly in the Mari Republic.
Maori is one of the official languages of New Zealand. It is spoken by the indigenous people of the country. Maori is an Eastern Polynesian language. There were two distinct Maori dialects prior to the European colonization of New Zealand, which is now extinct. There are around 125000 speakers of Maori language.
Manx, also known as Manx Gaelic, belongs to Indo- European language family. The language almost disappeared by 1973 with the death of the native speaker however, the linguistic revival has been successful and it is used by some families now. Manx is a Celtic language spoken on the Isle of Man and there are about a hundred competent Manx speakers.
The Kamba language, also known as Kikamba, is a Bantu language and it is spoken by the Kamba people of Kenya. It has lexical similarities to some other Bantu languages. It is spoken by around 5,000 people in Tanzania. It is spoken in four major regions of Kamba land which are Machakos, Mwingi, Kitui and Makueni. The Machakos is considered to be the best of the four dialects and it has been used to translate the Bible.
The Kalmyk language belongs to the Kalmyk-Oirat subgroup of Mongolic languages. There are around 500,000 speakers of this language in Russia, Western China and Western Mongolia. Kalmyk was first written in the Uyghur script. However, later its alphabets were created using the Classical Mongolian Script. Also, Kalmyks in Russia adopted the Cyrillic alphabets.
Kabyle is a Berber language and it is spoken by the Kabyle people. There are around 3,123,000 speakers of this language, most of who are in Algeria. During the 20th century, the Latin and Tifinagh alphabets were adapted to write Kabyle. Kabyle has no official status in Algeria but it is taught in schools in Kabyle speaking areas.
Jin also known as Shanxinese has 48 million native speakers. Jin was universally considered to be a dialect of Mandarin Chinese, until 1985, Li Rong proposed that Jin should be considered a separate top- level grouping, similar to Cantonese or Wu Chinese. Jin is spoken most of in Shanxi province, except for the lower Fen River valley; much of central Inner Mongolia; as well as adjourning areas in Henan, Hebei and Shaanxi provinces.
The Iranian languages belong to the Indo-European family of languages. There are several Iranian languages and some of the major languages are Pahto, Persian, Balochi and Kurdish. As of 2008, there were around 150-200 million native speakers of Iranian languages. The speakers of this language are known as Iranian people.
Inuktitut is one the principal language of Canada. It is the official language of Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. Inuktitut also has legal recognized in some other areas of Canada. According to the Canadian census, there are around 35,000 Inuktitut speakers in Canada, including around 200 who live outside the traditional Inuit lands.
Interlingue was published in 1922 and it is created by Balto-German and Edgar de Wahl. Many of the derived word forms of this language reflect similar forms common to a number of Western European languages, mainly those in the Romance family. It is created in a way that it is easy to understand at first sight for individuals familiar with Western European languages. It was previously known as Occidental but after the WWII its name changed to Interlingue. It is written in Latin script.
