Telugu is a South-Central Dravidian language predominantly spoken in the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh where it is an official language. It is also spoken by significant minorities in the states of Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odissa, Tamil Nadu, and in Yanam, in the union territory of Pondicherry. One of the four classical languages of India, Telugu ranks third by the number of native speakers in India (74 million), thirteenth in the Ethnologue list of most-spoken languages worldwide, and the most spoken Dravidian language.
Tatar also known as Kazan Tatar is a Turkic language spoken by the Tatars mainly in Tatarstan and Bashkortostan. It is mainly spoken in Russia with about 5.3 million speakers. It is the official language of the Republic of Tatarstan along with Russian. The official script of Tatar language is mostly based on the Cyrillic script.
Tamasheq is a variety of Tuareg, principally spoken in the area around Timbuktu. There are two divergent dialects, Timbuktu and Tadghaq. The name Tamasheq is sometimes applied to the Tuareg languages in general. There are around one million speakers of Tamasheq.
Tajik, also known as Tajik Persian or Tajiki, is a variety of modern Persian spoken in Central Asia. There are around 4.5 million native speakers of Tajik language. It is the official language of Tajikistan and most speakers of Tajik language live in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. In Afghanistan it is known as Dari as the Tajik dialect here is less influenced by Turkic languages.
Tahitian is an indigenous language and it is spoken mainly in the Society Islands in French Polynesia. It is an Eastern Polynesian language closely related to the other indigenous languages spoken in French Polynesia. In French Polynesia, it is the most prominent of the indigenous Polynesian languages. A Tahitian spelling system using the Latin alphabet was developed by and proposed on 8th March 1805.
Syriac is a dialect of Middle Aramaic that was once spoken across much of the Fertile Crescent. It first appeared as a script in the 1st century AD and is written in the Syriac alphabet. It has been recognized as an official minority language in Iraq. It is used nowadays as ritual and literary language by Neo-Aramaic people in Syria.
Sylheti is an Indo-European language. It is spoken in the Barak Valley region of northeast Bangladesh and southeast Assam (India). The Sylheti language is related to Assamese and Bengali, but is distinct from both. Sylheti is spoken by around 10 million people. Most of the speakers of this language are bilingual in Sylheti and Bengali. It has also commonly been regarded as a dialect of Bengali.
Swahili, also known as Kiswahili, is a Bantu language and it is the native language of Swahili people. It is spoken by various communities in the African Great Lakes region. There are around 140 million speakers of Swahili language. Swahili is the national or official language of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Also, some Swahili vocabulary is derived from Arabic.
Sumerian is the language of ancient Sumer and it was spoken in southern Mesopotamia (modern Iraq). It developed from the pictographs and many other symbols made on clay tablets. Later it was replaced by Akkadian as a spoken language. Sumerian is classified as a language isolate as it is not related to any other known language.
